Is sitting in a religious lesson, of which one understands only a little, considered an act of obedience and drawing closer to God?

Sitting in a gathering of knowledge may be among the acts of obedience, as it is included in the hadith: "No group of people gathers in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, except that tranquility descends upon them, mercy envelops them, angels surround them, and Allah mentions them to those with Him." It also falls under the virtue of gatherings of dhikr (remembrance of Allah), where no one who sits in them will be wretched, and the one sitting benefits from an ayah or a hadith they hear.
