What is the alternative to a family gathering for dhikr, knowing that whoever remembers Allah to himself, Allah remembers him to Himself, and whoever remembers Him in a gathering, Allah remembers him in a gathering better than it?

The remembrance of Allah and gathering for it are among the best acts of proximity [to God]. Evidence for this has been reported in the Qur'an and Sunnah, including His, the Almighty's, saying: (And the men who remember Allah often and the women who remember Him - Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward). And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I am with him when he remembers Me," and he said: "No people sit remembering Allah, the Almighty and Exalted, except that the angels encompass them, mercy covers them, tranquility descends upon them, and Allah mentions them among those with Him."

Gathering for the remembrance of Allah contains great good and virtue, as long as it is not adopted as a regular sunnah or includes a reprehensible innovation. If the gathering includes innovations, it is better to avoid it and to remember Allah frequently individually or in a gathering that does not include anything reprehensible.
