Will the appearance of the mountain of gold be before the appearance of the Mahdi?

Muslim narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The Hour will not be established until the Euphrates uncovers a mountain of gold, over which people will fight. Out of every hundred, ninety-nine will be killed, and every man among them will say: 'Perhaps I will be the one to survive.'" The text does not specify the time of its occurrence, but some scholars have suggested that it will be in the End Times, before the Gathering. This hadith may be linked to what Al-Bukhari mentioned about the emergence of the fire.
