Is the husband entitled to reclaim all that he paid in Mahr (dowry) and gifts, after discovering a defect in the wife's eye (strabismus) subsequent to the marriage contract and prior to consummation?

Blindness is not a defect that annuls a marriage. You may keep the woman or divorce her. If you divorce her before consummation or legal seclusion, she is entitled to half of her dowry. Gifts are not reclaimable once ownership has been transferred through possession. We do not recommend divorce, as blindness is a minor defect and can be treated.
