If it is hoped that the beard will grow on its own, then one should not try to force it, because that is not a defect. However, if it is a defect such that its growth on its own is not hoped for, then there is no harm in treating it to bring out the rest, especially if it is disfigured. But if it is not disfigured, it is better not to treat it, lest it be of the type of prohibited artificial extensions.
