How can a Muslim demonstrate good character when dealing with those who do wrong, and should patience and forbearance be prioritized, or standing up for the truth, as in His, the Almighty's, saying: "And those who, when tyranny strikes them, they defend themselves"? And when is gentleness appropriate, and when is strictness appropriate, in inviting to Allah?

Islam calls for responding to evil with good, patience, and forbearance, for there is a great reward in this, and it transforms enmity into love, and brings forth Allah's support and aid.

To learn and acquire good character, one must strive against their own self, accompany people of good character, and ask Allah for it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to ask Allah for good character in his supplications. He was not obscene, nor loud in the marketplaces, nor did he respond to evil with evil; rather, he pardoned and forgave.

The fundamental principle in Da'wah (inviting to Islam) is gentleness, as Allah Almighty commanded Musa and Harun (peace be upon them both) to speak to Pharaoh with gentle words. Allah described His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the Qur'an and the Torah as not being harsh or stern, but rather forgiving and pardoning. However, wisdom may necessitate severity and harshness towards disbelievers in certain situations, as Allah Almighty commanded.
