Will I be punished by God in this world for a sin I insisted upon committing?

Sin has a profound effect on the calamities that befall a person. Allah Almighty said: "And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is because of what your hands have earned, and He pardons much." And turning away from the remembrance of Allah causes a miserable life. Allah Almighty said: "And whoever turns away from My remembrance - indeed, he will have a constricted life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind." A person may be deprived of sustenance because of a sin, and Allah may delay the punishment of a servant persistent in disobedience, then seize him with a painful, severe seizing.
