The waiting period (iddah) for a widow: - If she is pregnant, her waiting period ends upon giving birth to the entire pregnancy, and months are not taken into account. - If she is not pregnant, her waiting period is four months and ten days according to the Hijri calendar, starting from the husband's death. - She is permitted to go out during the day for her needs and also at night if there is a need, but it is forbidden for her to spend the night outside her home. She is not allowed to go out for non-essential reasons like visiting.

The waiting period (iddah) for a woman who is not a widow (e.g., divorced): - If she menstruates, her waiting period is three menstrual cycles. - If she does not menstruate, her waiting period is three months according to the Hijri calendar. - She is not required to observe mourning (ihdad) like a widow.

Note: Solar months (Gregorian calendar) are not considered in any of these cases; the waiting period, when measured in months, is calculated using lunar months.
