Is it permissible to supplicate against an oppressor, and to supplicate for the separation of a girl from a young man, and to supplicate for the reconciliation of hearts? And is charity a means for the acceptance of supplication?
"Breaking off an engagement is permissible for both parties whenever they wish. If this occurs without a specific reason, it does not justify invoking curses upon the suitor, because fulfilling a promise is recommended, not obligatory. Even assuming he wronged you, forgiveness is better.
It is advisable to pray for Allah to decree what is good, for Allah knows the true nature of affairs, and a person might pray for something they perceive as good, while it is actually bad for them, as stated in His Almighty saying: "And man invokes evil as he invokes good, and man is ever hasty" (Al-Isra: 11). There is no harm in giving charity with the intention of having one's prayers answered."
