What is the ruling on saying, "Allah Almighty said, meaning," when citing a verse from the Holy Quran without being sure of having memorized it, and is this permissible for Hadith but not for verses?

The Quran is distinguished from other texts in that, according to the majority of scholars, including the Imams of the four madhhabs, it is not permissible to convey its meaning indirectly, unless the conveyance of meaning is for the purpose of interpreting a verse or indicating that the meaning is found in the Quran without attributing the exact wording to Allah.
