What is the ruling on buying toys for children on Ashura, with evidence from a Prophetic Hadith?

Al-Tabarani narrated the hadith: "Whoever expands (his spending) upon his family on the Day of Ashura, Allah will expand (His provision) for him throughout the rest of his year." This hadith has other weak chains of transmission. Some scholars have held that these chains strengthen one another, making the hadith suitable for use as evidence.

It is understood from the hadith that expanding provision for the family on Ashura is not limited to one type of provision, but encompasses food, clothing, and other things. The four madhhabs (schools of thought) are in agreement regarding the permissibility of expanding provision for one's family and relatives on the Day of Ashura.

Therefore, there is no harm in purchasing children's toys on the Day of Ashura as a form of expanding provision, provided that these toys do not contain any violations of Islamic law.
