What is the interpretation of the noble Hadith: "From your world, perfume and women have been made beloved to me"?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was made to love women and perfume from this world, and the coolness of his eyes was made to be in prayer. The wisdom behind his love for women was so that they could transmit what men would not be privy to regarding his private affairs, which would be too modest to mention, such as rulings on ghusl (ritual bath), menstruation, and post-natal bleeding. This was also to increase his trials and reward, and it was not due to lust on his part. As for his love for perfume, it is because he conversed with angels, and they love good scents.
