Is it obligatory for one who has broken her oath sworn by the Qur’an, by returning to masturbation after having fasted two days as an expiation for the oath, and then broke it again before completing the expiation, to fast, or recite the Qur’an, or pay expiation, knowing that her allowance does not exceed 50 dollars?

The questioner must repent from the blameworthy habit and abandon it. As for her swearing by the Quran, it is a binding oath for which expiation is due upon breaking it. This expiation is: feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. If she is unable to do that, then she must fast for three days, and it is more prudent that they be consecutive. If she has fasted two days and possesses the means to feed the poor, then her fasting is insufficient, and she must feed them. If she does not possess the means, then she must fast a third day with the intention of expiation, and committing a forbidden act before completing the expiatory fast does not affect it. It is more prudent to begin fasting three consecutive days. Reading the Quran has no place in the expiation for an oath.
