What is the religious ruling regarding a husband who constantly insults his wife, abandons her, and travels without her, and how should the wife deal with such a husband?

Islam has forbidden reviling and insulting Muslims, deeming it an act of wickedness. This prohibition is especially emphasized in the case of a husband towards his wife, as it contradicts the good companionship enjoined by Allah. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, enjoined kindness towards women and forbade striking the face, demeaning them, and boycotting them except within the home. We advise the wife to be patient with her husband and to respond to evil with good. It is not permissible for her to deny herself to him or to fall short in fulfilling his rights due to his shortcomings. If the wife despairs of his reform and is unable to bear the harm, she has the right to seek divorce for damage, such as him boycotting her without reason, or striking her, or insulting her.
