Is the husband obligated to tolerate his wife's aggressive and repeated behavior, which includes verbal and physical assault, and her rejection of the advice of religious scholars concerning her actions, or should he marry another or send her back to her home country?

Marital life is not free of problems, but spouses should be keen on wisdom, overcoming mistakes, and avoiding anything that causes conflict and discord, for Iblis (Satan) works to separate them.

It is preferable for spouses to agree on principles for interaction to achieve stability, including avoiding provoking the other. When one of them is angry, the other should distance himself until tempers calm. It has been reported in the prophetic Sunnah that Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) left his house angry, and he was not reproached for it.

It is strange for matters between spouses to escalate to physical abuse. The wife erred by provoking her husband, hitting him, and insulting him. The husband erred by hitting her in the face, as there is a specific prohibition against striking the face.

The wife's actions suggest nushuz (disobedience/rebellion). To remedy this, follow the Shariah steps outlined in Fatwa no. 30586. Do not hasten to bring your wife back to your country until the benefit is clear, bearing in mind that it is not permissible to be absent from her for more than six months without her consent.

We caution against the seriousness of the wife's claim that Islam oppresses women, as this statement may lead to disbelief (kufr). It is obligatory to advise her to repent.
