Who is more entitled to the custody of a three-year-old child after the parents' divorce, knowing that the father adheres to the teachings of Islam, while the mother, after embracing Islam, reverted to committing grave sins such as drinking alcohol again, immodest display, frequenting nightclubs, and living with her Buddhist family?

Child custody goes to the father if the mother is immoral, because immorality is one of the factors that lead to the forfeiture of custody. Custody aims to serve the best interests of the child and provide him with a wholesome environment.

If the mother's custody is forfeited, custody transfers to the next in line among the relatives. If there is no suitable female relative for custody, then the father has the greater right to his custody. He must strive to ensure the child is in a wholesome environment for his upbringing according to the creed and morals of Islam, while advising the mother with wisdom and good admonition, in case she returns to what is right.
