Is it permissible to buy and sell agricultural crops before they are planted or ripen, with the farmer stipulating that the buyer purchase from the following year's harvest as a condition for recovering his original capital, and is this sale free from any suspicion of usury (riba)?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade the sale of fruits and crops before their ripeness became apparent. The sale of dates for future years is even more prohibited because it is a contract for a non-existent item, which is known as "Bay' al-Mu'awamah" (the sale of fruits for several years in advance). These types of sales are forbidden due to the harm, uncertainty, and unlawful appropriation of wealth involved. The legitimate alternative to them is the Salam contract.
