Did the triple divorce occur, given that the husband was suffering from psychological problems and extreme anger when sending the divorce messages via email, and believed that each divorce counted as a separate pronouncement with an 'iddah period of three months, and that there was a chance to reconcile after the third pronouncement?

Firstly: A man has the right to take back his wife after the first or second divorce, as long as she is within her waiting period ('iddah). Her 'iddah ends with the third menstruation for a menstruating woman, three months for an old woman (beyond childbearing age) and a young girl (before menstruation), and upon giving birth for a pregnant woman. However, after the third divorce, a man does not have the right to take his wife back.

Secondly: It is not necessary to issue more than one divorce to separate. As soon as the 'iddah ends after the first divorce, the man does not have the right to take his wife back except with a new marriage contract. If he divorces her three times, she is not lawful for him until she marries another man.

Thirdly: Scholars differed regarding the occurrence of divorce during the 'iddah. The majority holds that it occurs, while Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah believes that it does not occur. According to the view of the majority, if a man divorces his wife three separate times, all of them occur. However, according to Sheikh al-Islam's opinion, divorce does not occur except after a return (to the marital relationship) or after a new contract.

Fourthly: Divorce occurs by writing if there is an intention for divorce. As for uttering it, it causes the divorce to occur whether the intention for divorce exists or not.
