Modern devices such as computers, the internet, and television can be used for good or evil, and their ruling depends on their usage. It is not permissible to prohibit them entirely; rather, one must warn against their misuse. One should be economical in acquiring them, and they should be acquired out of need and for benefit, not for adornment or boastfulness. Caution must be exercised when acquiring them for children, as they often do not need them. Raising awareness is required, and its obligation is emphasized when harm escalates. Every Muslim capable of offering advice should strive to do so, especially those with influence and those responsible for media and education.
