What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding my continued employment at a usurious bank—given that I am the sole provider for my family and am displeased with this situation—while I search for an alternative job? And how will I be judged by Allah, the Almighty, if He takes my life while I am in this state, meaning: I work with usury but perform many good deeds?

Working in usurious banks is forbidden (haram), and one must repent and leave the job immediately. Whoever abandons something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, you will not abandon anything for the sake of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, except that Allah will replace it with something better for you." And whoever fears Allah, He will make a way out for him and provide for him from where he does not expect. If a servant meets his Lord having repented from usury, his bad deeds will be transformed into good deeds. As for someone who meets Him while persisting in usury, his matter is up to Allah Almighty; He may punish him if He wills, or forgive him if He wills.
