Is there torment in the grave?

The torment and bliss of the grave are affirmed by the Qur’an and Sunnah (definition), and they afflict both the soul and the body together, by agreement of the Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah (People of the Sunnah and the Community). The soul may sometimes experience bliss or torment alone. The totality of texts indicates that the soul experiences bliss or torment along with the body in the grave, and that it experiences bliss alone in Paradise.

The torment of the grave is the torment of the Barzakh (definition) (interim period between death and resurrection) that reaches the one deserving of it, even if they were not buried, such as someone devoured by wild animals or burned.
