What is the ruling on the following forms of invoking blessings upon the Prophet after congregational prayer: "O Allah, bestow prayers, peace, and blessings upon our master Muhammad and upon his family, in the number of Allah's perfection and as befits His perfection," and "O Allah, bestow prayers, peace, and blessings upon our master Muhammad and upon his family, in the number of Allah's names and as befits His perfection," and "the well-known Ibrahimiyyah prayers," knowing that some do not permit the phrase "in the number of Allah's perfection" on the grounds of restricting Allah's perfection?

Among the prescribed adhkar (remembrances) after prayer are tasbih (subhanallah), tahmid (alhamdulillah), takbir (Allahu Akbar), and tahlil (La ilaha illa Allah). Each person performs this great remembrance individually. As for doing it collectively, led by the mu'adhdhin or imam, it is an innovation (bid'ah). The "Perfect Prayer" (Salat al-Kamaliyyah): "Allahumma salli wa sallim wa barik ala Sayyidina Muhammadin wa ala alihi adada kamalillah wa kama yaleequ bikamalihi" (O Allah, send prayers, peace, and blessings upon our master Muhammad and upon his family, as many as the perfection of Allah and as befits His perfection), was not reported from the Prophet, peace be upon him, nor from any of his companions. It is not the best of formulations; rather, the best formulation is what the Prophet, peace be upon him, taught his companions, which is the Salat al-Ibrahimiyyah. The "Perfect Prayer" contains a legal prohibition due to their saying: "as many as the perfection of Allah" and "as many as the names of Allah," for the apparent meaning of the wording is that the perfection of Allah Almighty and His names are limited by a number. Some scholars have prohibited this prayer.
