What are the acts of worship through which a Muslim can draw closer to Allah, and what are the reliable books that guide on how to persevere in obedience, instill love for good, and speak about Paradise and Hellfire, the torment of the grave and the characteristics of its inhabitants, and about the biography of the Companions to emulate them?
You must repent sincerely from sins, for Allah will help you with it when your repentance is sincere. He is vast in bounty and great in mercy. Have a good opinion of Him and turn to Him striving in acts of obedience. Increase in supererogatory acts of worship such as prayer, charity, and fasting, for through them Allah will love you, grant you success in good deeds, and keep you away from sins. Adhere to the remembrance of Allah Almighty, for it protects from Satan.
Among the suggested books are: Mukhtasar Minhaj al-Qasidin, Al- wal-Nar (Paradise and Hell), Al-Qiyamah al-Sughra (The Minor Resurrection), and Al-Qiyamah al-Kubra (The Major Resurrection) by Dr. Omar Al-Ashqar. For reviewing the stories and biographies of the Companions: Suwar min Hayat al- (Scenes from the Lives of the Companions), Hayat al-Sahabah (The Lives of the Companions), and Mawaqif Imaniayyah (Faithful Stances).
