Who is the Companion who loved fasting in summer, honoring guests, and striving with the sword?

Ibn Asakir reported on the authority of Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Were it not for three things, I would not have loved to remain alive for an hour: the thirst of hot noons, prostration at night, and sitting with people who select the best of words just as the best of fruits are selected." There is no known authentic and ثابت (firm/established) narration from any of the Companions mentioning that he loved the three characteristics mentioned.
