Who is the man who walked from Andalusia to Baghdad to hear a hadith?

Baqi bin Makhlad al-Andalusi al-Qurtubi traveled from Andalusia to Baghdad to hear hadith from Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal. He arrived in Baghdad while Imam Ahmad was prohibited from transmitting hadith due to the ordeal of the creation of the Qur'an. So, he would enter upon him as a questioner to hear the hadiths from him. After the crisis was revealed, Imam Ahmad praised his diligence and patience. Al-Dhahabi described him as a pious, righteous, divine, truthful, and sincere Imam, a leader in knowledge and action, unparalleled, who issued fatwas based on the narrations and did not imitate anyone. He passed away in the year 276 AH.
