Is it forbidden or permissible to use a crack or patch to run paid software, and is it permissible to do so if there is no alternative of the same quality?

It is impermissible to create tools to hack prohibited software, and their price is unlawful (haram), because this constitutes aiding in sin and transgression. Allah Almighty said: "Do not cooperate in sin and transgression." Furthermore, programs that are prohibited from being copied and downloaded may not be encroached upon without the permission of their owners, even if they are rare or expensive. Jurists have stipulated that means have the same rulings as their ends, and whatever leads to the unlawful is itself unlawful.
