What is the ruling on reading magazines and books in English in the bathroom while relieving oneself?

It is permissible to read books or magazines in the bathroom if the reading is silent and one does not prolong their stay beyond what is necessary, lest it lead to harm. As for reading accompanied by speech, it is disliked to do so, because silence is prescribed when relieving oneself.
