Is the wife obligated to contribute to household expenses, and does her husband have a right to her salary, and if she is required to contribute, what is the requested percentage from her?

A reconciliation must take place between the spouses regarding household expenses. If the husband stipulated, prior to her employment, that his wife share in the expenses, then she must adhere to this condition, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Muslims are bound by their conditions, except for a condition that forbids what is lawful or permits what is unlawful," and his saying: "The most deserving of conditions to be fulfilled are those by which you made sexual intercourse lawful."

However, if there was no prior condition, then the full financial support is incumbent upon the husband, based on Allah's (the Most High) saying: "Let a man of wealth spend from his wealth," and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "And upon you is their provision and clothing according to what is reasonable." The wife's salary is her right, unless she willingly gives a portion of it to her husband, based on Allah's (the Most High) saying: "But if they give up willingly to you anything of it, then consume it with pleasure and ease."

It is advised to show tolerance and agree on a specific amount from the wife's salary to avoid conflict. If an agreement cannot be reached, recourse can be sought through the Sharia court, but reconciliation and mutual understanding between the spouses are preferable.
