1. Is it permissible for a woman to return to her husband after the Imam divorced her from him without his knowledge of the divorce? 2. Is the Imam entitled to divorce a wife from her husband who refuses to divorce her, despite her aversion to him and his abandonment of her?

Divorce is in the husband's hand, and no one else can enforce it except through an代理 (agency) or a judge's ruling. The Imam alone does not have the right to enforce a divorce on a prisoner or anyone else for any reason, and a divorce issued by him is null and void unless he is authorized by the Islamic Center.

If the Imam is authorized by the Islamic Center, then his divorce is enforced and is considered an irrevocable or revocable divorce depending on the case. Islamic Centers outside Muslim lands are treated judicially, so what the Imam carries out in terms of separation due to harm and ill-treatment is considered valid if he is authorized.

If a woman dislikes her husband and fears she will not fulfill her duties, she has the right to seek divorce or khul' by ransoming herself with what he gave her, and it is recommended for the husband to grant her request. If he does not, she should refer her case to a judge or whoever acts on his behalf to see what is best.
