Who are the senior Companions, and how many are there?

The number or names of the senior Companions cannot be precisely determined, as there is no text specifying them, and their total number is not accurately known.

However, there is no doubt that among the senior Companions are: - The first generation of Muhajirun and Ansar, and the foremost pioneers. - The Rightly Guided Caliphs and the rest of the Ten Promised Paradise. - Those among the Ansar who pledged allegiance at the First and Second Aqabah. - Those who performed the two hijras (emigrations) and prayed facing the two qiblas. - Those who witnessed Badr and Uhud, those who pledged allegiance under the tree, and those who embraced Islam before the Conquest.

A large number, estimated in the tens of thousands, performed Hajj with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, during the Farewell Pilgrimage, and many of them were senior Companions.
