How many Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, were there?

It is not possible to ascertain a specific number for the Companions due to their dispersal across various lands and the absence of a book that compiles them. Although some scholars estimated their number at one hundred and fourteen thousand, this precise determination is inaccurate. Others mentioned that they were sixty thousand at the time of his death, peace and blessings be upon him: thirty thousand in Madinah and a similar number among the tribes. Nevertheless, the total number of biographies in the books of compilers did not exceed ten thousand.
