Is working in a public bathhouse forbidden (haram)?

For the construction and ownership of bathhouses to be permissible, it is required to observe Islamic manners, such as lowering the gaze, covering private parts, and avoiding intermingling; otherwise, it is forbidden. The Hanafis, Malikis, and Shafi'is have permitted the construction of bathhouses if they are free from the uncovering of private parts, and they deemed it disliked if that occurred. Whereas the Hanbalis disliked renting out, selling, or buying bathhouses absolutely. As for women entering public bathhouses, it is not permissible except in cases of extreme necessity and with complete covering. And rulers must oblige people and bathhouse owners not to enter the bathhouse except with the covering of private parts, and to punish those who violate this.
