Did the followers of Christ know that the one crucified was a look-alike, and that Christ was raised to heaven, or are they excused for their assumption that Christ was crucified, this being in reference to the Christians before the advent of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him?

A Muslim must believe that Jesus, peace be upon him, was not crucified, based on Allah's saying: "And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him." As for the Christians who were influenced by those accounts before the advent of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and did not have access to a source of revelation that denied the crucifixion of Jesus, it is hoped that they are excused. However, whoever came to know the revelation that denied the crucifixion and then denied it, is undoubtedly a disbeliever. Likewise, the current Christians who insist that he was crucified and killed are denying the revelation brought by Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.
