Is a working wife entitled to buy a car or hire a maid at her own expense without her husband's consent?

A woman is permitted to hire a maid or buy a car from her own money if she is an adult of sound judgment. The husband does not have the right to prevent her, unless the action goes against Islamic law. Nevertheless, there are cautions regarding hiring a maid; the conditions for hiring must be observed, and it is preferable to do without one to avoid harm to the husband and children, as a wife's reliance on her diminishes the charm of marital life. Furthermore, the maid should not enter the house without the husband's permission, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "As for your rights over your women, they should not allow anyone whom you dislike to step on your فرش [bed or carpet, signifying private space], nor should they permit anyone whom you dislike into your homes." It is recommended that the husband not be obstinate and consider his wife's needs.
