Is a working wife entitled to buy a car with her own salary without her husband's permission?

The fundamental principle is that it is permissible for a woman to drive a car, provided certain conditions are met. There is no objection to her purchasing and driving a car with her own money. Her husband is not permitted to prevent her from doing so, especially if her driving protects her from riding with a non-mahram (definition) man. She must observe the Shariah controls, such as wearing the prescribed Islamic dress.

However, if the husband has legitimate Shariah-compliant justifications, or if he takes responsibility for transporting her, then obeying the husband and not purchasing the car is more preferable.
