What is the ruling on artificial insemination using an ovum or sperm from outside the spouses, and to whom is the child attributed in this case?

If a foreign element enters the fertilization process, such as an egg or a surrogate mother being foreign, or the sperm coming from someone other than the husband, then the fertilization is forbidden and considered adultery (zina). The child resulting from this scenario is attributed to his mother who gave birth to him, and is not attributed to the owner of the sperm, unless this man claims the child's lineage and no one disputes him, in which case the child is attributed to him. The Prophet's saying, peace be upon him, "The child is for the bed, and for the adulterer is the stone," is interpreted to apply in cases of dispute.
