What is the ruling on someone to whom money is offered, while he is in dire need of it to pay off a debt; would he be sinful if he accepts it, and what is the ruling on the briber? And what is the ruling on a husband who is absent from his wife due to travel and cannot return for a year or a year and a half in order to pay off a debt incurred due to marriage?

If the money offered is a bribe, then rejecting it is an act of kindness, and something better is hoped for you. However, if it is a gift or a present, there is no harm in taking it, especially if there is a need for it, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying to 'Umar: "Take it, and whatever comes to you of this wealth while you are neither greedy nor begging, then take it. But what is not so, then do not let your soul follow it." The Prophet (peace be upon him) accepted gifts and rewarded for them. As for bribery, it is not permissible to give or accept it, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) "cursed the briber, the bribed, and the intermediary." This is unless a person is forced to pay it to obtain his right, in which case the sin is upon the one who takes it. As for a husband's absence from his wife, it is not permissible for it to exceed six months except with her consent; otherwise, she has the right to demand his return or divorce.
