Is taking the easiest and most logical opinion among the differing opinions of scholars, when in doubt, considered a sound decision?

A Muslim student of knowledge adopts what seems most probable to him from the sayings of scholars, in accordance with the religious texts and the rules of the faith. As for the layman, he must ask someone he trusts among the scholars and act upon their fatwa, for Allah Almighty says: "So ask the people of the message if you do not know." He should not frequently switch between muftis or seek out legal concessions merely out of desire, unless there is a need. If scholars are equally esteemed in his eyes and he does not know which of them is more preponderant, then there is no blame upon him for taking the easier opinion.
