Are the Hadiths that mention the virtues of chapters of the Holy Quran, such as: "Al-Ikhlas is one-third of the Quran," and "If there comes the help of Allah and the conquest is one-fourth of the Quran," and "Say, 'O disbelievers' is one-fourth of the Quran," and "When the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake is one-fourth of the Quran," authentic? Likewise, is the Hadith: "Whoever adheres to seeking forgiveness, Allah will make for him a way out of every worry and a relief from every hardship, and provide for him from where he does not expect," authentic? And is it true that reciting Surat Ya-Sin and then supplicating with anything after it will be answered?

The entire Holy Quran is guidance and a great reward. Many narrations have been reported concerning the virtues of certain surahs and verses; some are authentic, and some are weak or fabricated. Ibn al-Qayyim stated that the hadiths which mention, "Whoever recites such-and-such a surah will be granted such-and-such a reward," are fabricated.

Al-Albani and Shu'ayb al-Arna'ut weakened the narration reported by At-Tirmidhi and graded by him as hasan (good), due to the weakness of Salamah ibn Wardan. However, there are authentic narrations regarding the virtues of some surahs, such as the hadith reported by At-Tirmidhi from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When 'Idha Zulzilat' (The Quake) is recited, it is equivalent to half of the Quran. 'Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad' (Say: He is Allah, the One) is equivalent to one-third of the Quran. And 'Qul Ya Ayyuha al-Kafirun' (Say: O disbelievers) is equivalent to one-fourth of the Quran." Al-Albani authenticated this hadith, except for the virtue of "Idha Zulzilat."

As for "Al-Adiyat" (The Chargers), narrations have been reported concerning its virtue, stating that it is equivalent to half of the Quran, but these are weak. Among them is what As-Suyuti mentioned from Al-Hasan as mursal. Likewise, what has been reported regarding fulfilling needs by reciting "Yasin" is weak. The hadith, "Whoever adheres to seeking forgiveness, Allah will grant him relief from every worry," was weakened by Al-Albani due to the anonymity of one of its narrators.
