Is it permissible to follow the opinion of some scholars who permit trimming the eyebrows for an unmarried woman, and is this considered following one's whims, knowing that bleaching and trimming the eyebrows give the same result, which is thinning the eyebrows, and you have permitted bleaching?
Scholars differed regarding an-Nams (plucking of eyebrows): whether it specifically means plucking hair, or generally refers to any removal of it. They also differed on the wisdom behind its prohibition. The ruling on an-Nams, if it is plucking, is that it is forbidden and considered a major sin. However, if it involves trimming or shaving, there is a dispute, and it is better to avoid it. Bleaching eyebrows is permissible because it is a dye that is not permanent and is not considered nams, unless it is done to deceive a suitor. It is not permissible to adopt a weak opinion if one has clear evidence for the stronger, opposing opinion, nor is it permissible for an unlearned person (Ammi) to seek out the dispensations () of jurists.
