Is a person who commits suicide due to suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) treated the same as one who commits suicide out of despair, or is their ruling different due to the mental and psychological disorder? And do they fall under those for whom the pen has been lifted, based on the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: “The pen has been lifted from three: from the sleeper until he awakens, from the child until he reaches puberty, and from the insane person until he recovers”?

Suicide is a major sin. Neither physical nor psychological illness permits it, unless the illness affects the suicide victim's mind to the point of losing it. In this case, the person is not sinful because the pen of responsibility is lifted from them, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The pen has been lifted from three: from the sleeper until he awakens, from the child until he grows up, and from the insane person until he regains his sanity or recovers." However, if psychological pressure did not affect the suicide victim's mind, then they are held accountable for their action.
