The Hadith "Consult them but then oppose them" is false and has no basis. The foundation of the marital relationship is living together in kindness, affection, and mercy. Interaction with one's wife must be based on truth and rectitude, with the rectification of character to align with the Sharia if necessary, for a person should not surrender to their nature if it contradicts the Sharia. Women have a special nature characterized by weakness, deficiency, and crookedness, as stated in the Quran and Sunnah, but this does not justify belittling them or their rights; rather, it calls upon the man to exercise more patience, forbearance, and overlooking in dealing with them.
