Bribery is one of the major sins, and its perpetrator, whether the giver, receiver, or intermediary, is accursed. It is defined as using something to establish falsehood or abolish truth. As for the bribe used by a person to attain their right, or to avert harm or injustice from themselves, it is permissible for the giver according to the majority of scholars, and the sin falls upon the receiver. If the questioner cannot obtain their right except by means of it, then there is no blame upon them, provided that it is not for obtaining an undeserved certificate, as this would be establishing falsehood.
