What should one do who doubts the remembrance of bowing while in it or after rising from it, or doubts the prostration and forgot what was said in the bowing, and what is the ruling on his previous prayers in which he doubted and completed them without doing anything?

If a person is afflicted with obsessive whisperings (waswas), he should disregard them. Glorifying Allah in rukoo‘ (bowing) is sunnah (recommended) according to the majority of scholars, and whoever omits it intentionally or forgetfully, their prayer is valid. However, according to the Hanbalis, it is obligatory; whoever omits it intentionally, their prayer is invalidated, and whoever omits it forgetfully, it is compensated by sujood as-sahw (prostration of forgetfulness). If one doubts whether they performed the glorification while in rukoo‘, they should perform it. But if they have already risen from rukoo‘, they should not pay attention to the doubt. This man’s prayer is valid, and there is nothing against him regarding what has passed. A person afflicted with waswas is permitted to take the easier opinions of scholars.
