Is the principle "the means have the rulings of the ends" evidenced in the Qur'an and Sunnah, and what are its proofs from the Qur'an?

The jurisprudential maxim, "Means are given the ruling of their ends," signifies that whatever leads to the forbidden is forbidden, and whatever is indispensable for fulfilling an obligation is obligatory. Its proof is the Almighty's saying: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression." For example, travel or trade become forbidden if they are a means to the forbidden, and obligatory if they are a means to the obligatory.
