Is it permissible to marry the mother of a girl if one has not consummated the marriage with the girl, knowing that the Sharia rule states that contracting marriage with daughters prohibits their mothers? And is adopting this opinion, based on established narrations from some Companions and Successors, considered blameless?

It is forbidden for a man to marry his wife's mother as soon as he contracts marriage with her daughter, whether she is a direct mother or a grandmother from the mother's or father's side. This is the doctrine of the four Imams and the majority of scholars, and their evidence is the saying of Allah the Almighty: (And your wives' mothers). Consensus has been reached on this ruling, and it is not permissible to adopt the opinion of anyone who contradicts the majority.
