What should a veiled girl do who has stumbled in her studies, and whose father has sworn an oath of divorce upon her mother if she does not remove her veil?

A woman must cover her face from non-mahram men. The father must fear Allah and not prevent his daughter from wearing the niqab. His threat to divorce the mother is wrong. Scholars have differed on the ruling regarding conditional divorce, and the majority opinion is that it occurs when the condition is met. As for the girl's obedience to her father and her removing her niqab: if it is the first or second divorce [of the mother], she should not obey him. If it is the third [divorce of the mother], then she is in the position of one compelled, and she may uncover her face while attempting to maintain modesty, for necessities permit the forbidden.
