Does a wife sin if she requests a divorce and her husband refuses, because she does not wish for her husband to touch her?

Seeking divorce without significant harm is a grave sin, and the woman who does so will be deprived of the scent of Paradise. We advise the questioner to fear Allah and to seek the reason for her aversion and address it with her husband. If the situation persists and she cannot bear to live with him after exhausting all means, then she may seek separation. If he refuses, she may seek khul' from him by returning the dowry, as did the wife of Thabit ibn Qays.
