What is the ruling on eating from animals slaughtered out of joy for the arrival of a man of status, and is this considered slaughtering for other than Allah?

If the slaughter is made for an emir, a minister, or a sultan with the intention of drawing near to him and glorifying him, then it is major polytheism (shirk akbar) and the slaughtered animal is forbidden. However, if the slaughter is done as an act of honoring without glorification, then it is permissible and the slaughtered animal is lawful. The sign of polytheism is to slaughter the animal in front of him and leave it without eating, whereas slaughtering for honor is for the purpose of eating. Scholars have considered the slaughter where blood flows in front of a revered guest (such as a sultan or an emir) a form of drawing near to a created being, and they have ruled that this slaughtered animal is forbidden and considered carrion, which cannot be eaten. Furthermore, the one who commits such an act must be condemned.
