What is the ruling on slaughtering a sheep or a camel in front of a leading or important figure in the state as a sign of respect and appreciation for them, knowing that the slaughtering does not take place unless they are present, and does this fall under the saying of Allah Almighty: {And that upon which (the name of) other than Allah has been invoked}?

A slaughtered animal over which Allah's name was pronounced, and which was slaughtered to honor a prominent person, is permissible to eat, as long as it was not slaughtered for other than Allah in an act of worship. If it was slaughtered for other than Allah as an act of worship to that other, then it is unlawful, and it is not permissible to eat from it; due to the Almighty's saying: "He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah" (Al-Baqarah: 173). The default is not to accuse a Muslim of ill intent.
